The DCU can accept up to four RIO’s, and with 24 inputs, for switches, PT100 and 4–20mA sensors, and two off 24V outputs and 2 off relay outputs, this means each DCU can accept over 100 input/outputs utilizing the RIO 410s.

The RIO communicates with the DCU via a simple two wire link, and also has Ethernet connectability. Linked to this feature, each RIO has its own web server built in, so each channel can be configured / named via an Ethernet cable and any computer with a web browser.

Each RIO is automatically configured by the DCU when connected, but using password protected areas, each RIO 410 can be reconfigured, whether connected to a DCU or used as an independent “standalone” unit.
